Bottle. Poured a clear pale amber colored beer with a three fingers white and dense creamy foamy head that had a superb retention. Active carbonation. Good lacing. The aroma is smoke, rich malt, fruity, pears, notes of toffee. The flavour is first a malty sweetness then arrive the smoke that is still remaining all during the taste. Notes of caramel. A very nice balanced beer. This medium bodied beer has a lingering soft smokey end. The smoke may be certainly not so intense as in others well- known Rauchbier but it's for me more than a decent Rauchbier.

Sampled on 8/22/2009. This smoked beer pours a medium brown color from a 500ml bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel, roasty malts, slightly smoky. A medium bodied smoked beer. The malts are caramel and fruity. The hop are earthy and herbal. There is just a hint of smoke in this beer, but it pervades the whole beer start to finish. Nice balance. Good carbonation. Perhaps a touch too sweet. Some lingering smoke flavors at the finish. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet with a touch of smoke.

Bottled. Deep golden colour, small white head. Aroma of wet burnt wood. Flavour is burnt wet wood, smoke, ashes, hops and a bit tar. Smooth and easy to drink, but surely no "Schlenkerlaish smoked" thing.
