Just had an Ayinger and followed it up with this. I have to say I think this is quite inferior. Nose is mild with some funk... Some honey... Maybe some bubble gum. Clean clear golden body with short-lived whitehead. Mouth is medium bodied perhaps slightly under carbonated. Flavor is just bizarre it tastes more like a watered-down hefie. There is a hint of clove and or bubble gum which seems entirely inappropriate for a standard pilsner. There's a very astringent aftertaste. Maybe I got a bad bottle who knows.

500 ml bottle, as Weihenstephaner Pils, from Alko Karigasniemi. ABV is 5.1%. Pale golden colour, moderate white head. Moderate aroma of floral hops. The flavour is sweeter than expected, with fairly distinct bittering hops.

Quintessential Bavarian Pilsner from a time honored brewery. Thick, foamy white head, strong carbonation within a golden yellow body. Crisp and snappy, light bodied yet filling pils. Sharp grassiness, doughy crackers, and a firm hop presence. Lightly peppery combined with a floral, earthy hop profile. Great lager!

I've been looking forward to this, after the joys of the weissen.... Poured into a competitor's (Schneider-Weiss) 500ml glass.... Big white fluffy head, leaving a long lace. Yellow/straw in colour, with some bubbling. Clear. Hop heaven. That aroma is straight out of my brew pot. Saaz & pale malts. Unbelievable. Don't think I've had a pilsener with that sort of nose. Subtle DMS. After a while in the glass, the hop subsides, and the Munich characters become more evident. Hops and malt fill the mouth. This beer ain't shy. The flavour balance is excellent. Some subtle candy-ish malt notes, and floral perfumes. I get a very, very late aftertaste of lime. Bitterness is balanced, and the beer finishes very crisply. Excellent stuff. Excellent brewery.

Bottle. Pale gold colour with a slim white head. Aroma has grassy hops and sweet malts. I’m no big fan of Pilsners, but I quite like this; pretty well balanced malt and hops in the taste, light to medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Not bad.

clear golden colour, fine head and a beautiful lace, dry herbal aroma, medium-bodied, very dry with a decent bitterness, long and dry herbal finish - very nice pilsner
