The result is a beer that unites people through tradition and community. It’s a resounding call to the community, inviting us to raise a glass and join together in celebration. It’s a distinctly Canadian beer, diverse in flavour with universal appeal. Von Bugle pairs the best of European brewing practices with the latest advancements in worldwide brewing technology. It’s all part of our mission to ensure quality and consistency in striving to create the world's best dark beer brewed in Canada. Von Bugle Munich Lager is brewed to be the most sessionable dark beer on the market. The complex grain bill blends traditional and specialty malts to provide the robust and bold flavour. This is contrasted with Noble hops in addition to the rare, newly bred Kazbek hop. While the colour is a beautiful rich amber, the beer retains the drinkability and crispness associated with the cold fermenting and long ageing of lagers. The taste is smooth and perfectly balanced between gentle bitterness and malt sweetness. As one of the only remaining breweries in the world to adhere to the 500 year old Bavarian Purity Act, we’re committed to the integrity of essence and purity of process. This is why Von Bugle is made using only four ingredients that have been specially sourced for their quality and distinct flavours. The result is a rich and smooth premium lager crafted with no artificial preservatives, no foam enhancers, and no corn syrup.

The beer pours a translucent light copper colour with a generous foamy light tan head which doesn’t last very long. The aroma is grains, light caramel, herbal hops, and some weak yeast notes. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is light toasted caramel, some leather notes, and a nice bitter hoppy finish. I enjoyed this immensely, I hope Steam Whistle doesn’t ruin it. -

Sampled at Hardrock 42 in Sudbury. Pours a deeper amber colour with a warm cap and light lace. Darker malts in the nose, like rye, kind of spicy, fruity and with a caramel base. The taste has the sweet malts, but balanced by the hops which are grassy giving a nice dry finish. A very good Munich which has a tad more hops than the European versions for the style.
