West Coast Wheat is a classic unfiltered beer also known as a Hefeweizen (heh-feh-vite-zen). "Hefe" is the German word for yeast, "weizen" translated means wheat. Our Bavarian brewmaster, Ralf Pittroff, crafted this recipe by hand-selecting a combination of specialty wheat and barley malt and imports the yeast strain from the world's most renowned yeast manufacturer in Munich, Germany. This is a bottle conditioned beer, giving it a natural cloudy appearance resulting in a unique and extraordinary flavour. If you don't care for the yeast sediment, Ralf suggests leaving the last bit of beer in the bottle. However, if you are an adventurous West Coast soul looking for the authentic Bavarian experience, swirl the last part of the beer around in the bottom of the bottle and fill up your glass. You will get the full distinctive effect that this lively wheat beer delivers!
