A Belgian-style Saison, also known as a Farmhouse Ale. A traditional Belgian beer brewed with very low hop bitterness and a spicy character. The Belgian yeast used to ferment this beer produces a complex mix of spicy and aromatic flavors. The beer is also complimented by the use of Licorice Root, Coriander, Grain of Paradise, Wintergreen and other secret spices during the brew process. This beer style was originaly developed as a beer that was brewed at the farmhouse in the winter and used for nourishment all summer long for the farm laborers. Brew records indicate that as much as 5 Liters per day was consumed per laborer!!! Now that is a real employee benefit. Our version of this beer is a slightly higher alcoholic content at 5.3% ABV. The beer is very refreshing and a great treat for the beer enthusiast. Third Place, Silver Certificate, 2005 California State Fair.

Tasted at the Bistro 2005 Belgian Fest. Orange gold color. Medium sized white foamy head, strong lacing. Aroma is fruity and sweet, oranges and apricots. A medium to light bodied Saison. Malts are fruity and sweet. Apricots and orange. Bright yeasts, slightly spicy. Fairly sweet. Seems somewhat under-carbonated. Smooth taste. Touch of hop bite at the finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet.
