A barrel aged version of our Decadence 12 Abbey style Quadrupple. We acquired a 56 year old Brandy Barrel from our most excellent friend Brian at Gallo. This oaken beast is the primo da primo of barrels. We have aged our Decadence 12 for 6 months for our first release and will age the bulk to a minimum of 1 year before the next release. Winner of a Bronze medal at the 2007 Bistro Barrel Festival.

2009 rating. Huge thanks to Degarth for sharing this truly rare treat. Pours hazy brown with thin off white head. It has a simply huge creamy – chewy – delicious – inviting aroma. Wow! I get sweet rich molasses, moderate wood notes, sweet dark fruitiness, some red wine and some understandable alcohol presence consider the massive ABV. I get a thick initial mouth feel ushering notes of dates, figs, prunes and sweet raisins that moves into wood and mild sweet booziness. It then becomes more and more whiskey infused as the taste progresses. It runs toward the finish with unbridled joy carrying tasty rich malt sweetness mixed with sweet dark dark fruitiness. Just plain old YUM!!

NorCal Feb ’08 - Man. What another f’n fantastic creation by Steve. The man has a sincere desire to produce top quality beers and he does it consistantly. This beer is just crazy good.
The beer pours out a copper orange/medium amber color with a nice light tan head. Aroma is multilayered with notes of caramel, dark fruits, vanilla, brandy, oak/wood and honeycomb (not the cereal). Flavors are caramel, brown sugar, toffee, subtle brandy, and honey. Again, simply an amazing beer. He took something already fantastic and made it better. -

Tasted on tap at the 2007 Bistro West Coast Barrel Aged Beer Festival. This Belgian quad pours a medium amber color. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is bourbon, malts, touch of cherries, and some oak. Medium to full-bodied quad. The malts are fruity and caramel. Some tartness form cherries and pomegranates (?) balance the bourbon barrel flavors. Nice sweetness and fruitiness with the bourbon barrel flavors. I can still taste the Decadence 12 in this beer, but it has metamorphed into this incredible beer. NICE. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
