It's an ideal end to another seamlessly perfect day. The fire has died down to glowing embers that seem to hiss and whisper secrets into the night as their heat cradles you in a comforting warmth that drives away your worries and cares. It is amazing how the scent of smoke can evoke feelings of warmth and wellbeing. Whispering Embers' aroma is reminiscent of the sweet smoke of a campfire as its embers reveal all in their enchanting whispers. Valkyrie's Whispering Embers is our Rauch Bier, an Oktoberfest lager made with Beechwood smoked malts from Bamberg, Germany. Mild aroma is sweet with a bit of smoke and fruit. Flavor is nice, sweet and smoky, with some dark fruit notes. Finish is dry and smoky. A smoked Oktoberfest. Let me repeat that; A smoked Oktoberfest. Ja! This bad boy is courtesy of none other than the PfoxyJohn (of course!). Deep golden color, condensed white head leaving ample lacing. Delicious mild smoke aroma and palate upfront, undertones of sweet malts, very light leather and cigar smoke, hint of toffee and fruits, more mild campfire smoke. This is a beer that all SmokeHeads should try if they can get their hands on some. Can't thank John enough for this fantastic brew.
