Back in January 2013 we brewed a strong saison to age in several casks we had available - five local whiskey barrels and one wine barrel. The idea was to make a malty dark amber beer that would pickup some oak and spirit notes but drink somewhat balanced. The Undercurrent achieves this character with layered flavors including light stone fruit, cherry, and milk chocolate, while finishing soft, clean and dry. An excellent beer to enjoy as a back to your favorite brandy, or try it with other spirits as well. Named after a Blue Note classic by Kenny Drew. Best drank within 2014.

@PDX Green Dragon. Surprised a beer of this strength can acheive the delicate balance it did and also still taste like a saison at 9%! All kinds of cool barrel character, bordering on wild. Wine, funk, whiskey, oak, fruity esters, bright hops...really complex beer. Love to have it again.
