Pours a lovely clear orange amber with a very thick and rather persistent fluffy white head that leaves only minimal lacing. Fruity aroma is mainly apple and banana and has firm malty and yeasty notes. Mouth-filling flavor has tones of apple, malt, banana and yeast as well as hints of caramel and butterscotch. Smooth, full-bodied texture has a subtle tingle and leaves a mild but persistent fizz behind. Happy 400th birthday, Quebec!

I found this beer at ShoppersVineyard.com in New Jersey. I tried it on a lark and based on the advertising description. I was truly amazed at the overall taste and flavor of the beer. I admit that I am partial to beers that are not dark and not overwhelming, but Unibroue Quatre Centieme is the beer with the best overall impression and quality that I have tasted on the North American continent,

Celebrating my 1000th beer review with a brew that was made to celebrate Quebec City's 400th anniversary. Still, after all these years, Unibroue makes me happy with their brews (even though they were bought out twice since I started reviewing beers). Pours a hazy golden-beige-yellow colour with lots of carbonation (smaller bubbles). The white head is big, creamy-foamy, has good retention and decent patchy lace all-around. Typical Unibroue yeast nose with some alcohol, notes of banana and spices. Very smooth and silky mouthfeel with a medium body. The taste is mild overall, with banana and peaches as the fruits show up in the beginning without being too sweet. The spices like cloves tend to show up in the finish and last into the aftertaste. Alcohol is very well-hidden. A very nice spicy and smooth Belgian ale.

Sampled on 10/9/2009. This Belgian ale pours a medium orange gold color from a 750ml bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet, tropical with a touch of wood. A medium bodied Belgian Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. Peach and pineapple flavors dominate. Yeasty and estery, with the typical Unibroue yeast flavors. Lively carbonation. Light and refreshing; fruity and a touch spicy. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean, crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter

Pretty disappointing. Tastes like Don de Dieu to me or at least very similar. I know that with all the Belgian style brews that Unibroue make, they are bound to have some that are similar or have similar qualities, but the similarities to this and DdD are very close. Plus, the high price tag on the bottle knocked a few points from the overall score.

The beer pours out a yeasty, spicy, candi sugar aroma with some support from banana, cloves and some vanilla bean. Mouthfeel seemed a bit overcarbonated, but that can be said for many of Unibroue’s beers. Floral bitterness jumped up at me first, then some sweet fruit flavors (pear, orange, and Crenshaw melon) with some spice and yeast. Carbonation seemed on overload for me, as it really detracted some of the flavor elements. Felt like my toungue had been ran thru the ringer a few times. Pretty average considering the price and a special brew for the 400th celebration of Quebec City.

I poured this one SLOWLY so as not have the usual Unibroue mega-head, but there was no need as this one came with very little head. Body was a clear gold at first, but all the sediment at the bottom of the bottle made the second glass very muddy indeed. Aroma was, I guess, fruity and spicy and also showed the high ABV. Taste was underwhelming, nice enough but I expected more. Mouthfeel and finish were pretty good.

Celebrating the 400th anniversary of the oldest continuous European based settlement in North America. The beer pours an almost clear golden yellow. The aroma is predominated by yeast with some hints of spices, and light fruit. The taste was rich and complex and started malty, and ended with a peppery finish. Great beer.

A beer shared with he Brewer at Ourayle House brewing in Ouray Clorado. Smells a fizz and sugar with some apricot and fruit. Pours a cloudy sunshine yellow with a long lasting white head. Way too much carbonation. It was really hard to drunk with the bubbles and Fizz, it kind of upset my stomach. Flavor was almost too sweet. Some stone fruit and apricots and a ton of sugar.

Golden brown body slight orange relatively clear but by judging by the amount of crap in the bottom of the bottle my next pour will be mucky. Stupidly tall cap on this beer and its taking way too long to go away. Aroma is sweet and yeasty (standard Unibroue yeast) also noting some rubber, mild clove, and pumpkin guts. Taste is full of wheaty malts and finishes slightly bitter. Very mild lemon some metallic can be tasted, beer isn’t as spicy as I was hoping for but it is noticeable. Just like a predicted a river of muck flowed out of the bottle into my glass on the pour making the beer opaque. With the introduction of the muck the beer feels fuller and smooth. Not the best beer I’ve ever had but I’d gladly drink again I’ll give the offering from Unibroue the ratting of Meh.
