Unibroue Blanche de Chambly
Unibroue Blanche de Chambly
Rated 3.572 by BeerPalsBlanche de Chambly is a beer containing a deposit of fresh yeast: the result of refermentation occurring in the bottle. This beer is only partially filtered to enable it to retain the benefits of its best ingredients. Its slightly blurry appearance is characteristic of white-beer recipes dating back to the Middle Ages.

Clear golden color once sediment settled. White head. Yeasty and sour aroma with a hint of malt. High carbonation that hits first to accentuate the fruity, spicy and slightly hop bitterness flavors. Then a light malt flavor appears briefly before a pleasant sweetness returns for the finish.

Very expensive belgian white @ $3 a 12 oz brown bottle. What does ’on Lees’ mean? Looks expensive too with it’s silver foil hat. This may be my first canadian wit. Pop the lid to reveal a slightly sour vinegary wheat aroma. Pour is like a clearer wheat but has some twisty streams of yeast in there and yes there seems to be some muck in the bottom of the bottle. Lots of bubbles and a creamy white head. Yer creamy initial taste that is full of wit cleanliness. Whitbeir is one of my favorite styles and this has lots of good competition. Taste is right up there with pax and wittekirke but is not as refined as hogaarden. Pretty good finish without unpleasant linger.

Bottle: Poured a hazy white yellow, with a white carbonated head. Aroma are sweet and citrus. Taste is a wheat with very little citrus bite, very balanced.

Large white head, good retention and lace. Hazy straw color. Lightly spicey nose, caramel notes. Light body, good carbonation. More complex malt and fruit flavors than most wits. Citrusy flavors. Finish is dry, crisp, nice.

The sacred Canadian witbier I hear. It pours a very hazed light orange color, and is topped by a snow white frothy cap. Very lively. Aroma is wheat, banana, coriander, and that Unibroue yeast. Mouthfeel is light to average. Flavor is sweet wheat at the beginning and gets more bitter towards the finish. Spices far more prevalent in the aroma than the flavor.

Bottle. Colour – hazed pale gold colour, thin white creamy head, very little lacing. Aroma – spices, banana, light wheat, citrus. Mouthfeel – medium bodied, highly carbonated. Flavour – wheat, bubble gum, citrus, spices. A good Canadian version of a wheat beer.

Pours a cloudy light pineapple juice color with no head to think of. Decent amount of carbonation. Aroma is a very light Belgian style. Fairly sweet and fruity. Taste is again fairly light with hints of orange peel, lemon sweetness's, and yeast. Finishes off a tad dry and sticky. Easy to drink but not much in the taste.

Light and fluffy. A great wheat beer. Pours silky with a massive white head. Light mouthfeel and a tasty grain flavor.Toothy. No hops here. Just refreshing grain beer with a super clean finish. I think I could drink this all day. In fact, I think I will.

Poured a very thick off-white creamy head. A hazy light orange colour. Citrus flavours for sure like lemon and tangy stuff as well as various fruits. Very hoppy taste but not too crazy. Aroma of breads and malts. Perfect summer type brew!
