08.25.05 750ml bottle, corked and capped, undated. Dingy red pour looks quite a bit like a dusky beaujolais nouveaux or an organic cranberry juice. Only a tiny, sudsy head of large bubble at first, followed by an upwelling of fine, pink dense bubbles like a soda, and then all is quiet, still. Aroma is musty, mineral, sulfur, some grapey, jam-like sweetness, nothing at all beery. At first, the beer is plain, a bit sour, and very corky and astringent. As it warms a stronger vinous quality arises along with a more assertive tartness. Grape skins, astringent tannins, must, and a light and lasting vinous quality.

Tasted the ìoriginal batchî thanks to Dr Bill. Reddish gold color. Small head. Aroma is grape must and funk. Medium bodied beer. Very weird and hard to describe Very vinous and wine like, yet also very funky, leather and barnyard and sour. Somewhat sweet malts, but overpowered by the lambic like tartness and sourness. Very oaky and tannic. It seemed more like a wine than a beer. Not sure if I liked it or not. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and sharp. Aftertaste is tart.

Very deep red color with a small amount of white head. Sour, chewy. A bitter seet sour cherry ball flavor, dry bitter finish. Has a nice sourish smell to it.

Tasted the “original batch” thanks to Dr Bill. It pours with a red body, topped with a thin head and little lacing. The aroma is slightly sweet and slightly tart with grape notes and a slight mustiness. The flavor is slightly tart and vinious with a touch of sweetness and some barnyard. Light bodied, crisp and dry.
