Uinta Brewing Company introduces Tinder Rauchbier, the newest limited addition brew to their Crooked Line. Inspired by Owner Will Hamill and Headbrewer Kevin Ely’s recent trip to Germany to inspect new brewhouse equipment, Tinder is a German-style Rauchbier (Smoked Beer) that kindles moderate malty sweetness and robust smokiness. Brewed with Bamberg beechwood-smoked malt, this medium-bodied lager ignites distinct campfire smoke flavors and aroma. Aromatic, bright and balanced, Tinder is bottle conditioned and has an ABV of 6.5%. Scheduled to hit select shelves in late January, Tinder is a limited release beer, only 180bbls were brewed. Keeping with Uinta’s Crooked Line tradition of supporting local art talent, Tinder’s label art was produced by Leia Bell, a local print artist. Leia was also the artist for Uinta’s Tilted Smile and Sea Legs labels.

Pours clear copper with a thick and fairly persistent buff head. Aroma offers smoky wood - beech or hickory, probably the former from the description - plus roast malt and a little honey sweetness. Flavor presents smoky, sweet, barbecue-ish, and subtle woody and cinnamon tones. Mouthfeel delivers decent body and fair fizz. Enjoy, but try not to get smoked.

Poured out a dark gold with a massive thick lingering white head. The aroma is of a fire that has burnt out. The mouthfeel is thick and the first four drinks had hops hint but they faded out. The flavor has got the taste of hickory smoked bacon, yeah that's right bacon.

750 ml bottle, bottled on 1/22/14. Pours slightly hazy golden orange with a huge fluffy white head that retains well and leaves some lacing.
The aroma is smokey campfire with a little sweet malt.
The flavor is sweet malt with a lot of heavy smoke. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with slightly sharp carbonation.
Overall, it's a nice smoke beer, but a little much on the sweet side. -

A deep golden straw colored beer with a big foamy head rising above. There’s good hang time on the head and vigorous carbonation. Settles into a moderate ringlet. A smokey nose. These are not my favorite style but the smokiness is laid back and actually pretty good. A smooth body. Very drinkable.
