I normally dislike honey beers (but like mead - go figure), so wasn't all that thrilled when this one came from the Michael Jackson beer club. I loved this beer - wasn't too sweet from the honey, instead the honey did a nice job melding with the malt and making the mouthfeel a bit more robust. Not syrupy like SA Triple Bock and not watery like most lagers - just right. Rich, golden brown in color; the tan head was small and short lived. Aroma of sugary honey and light malts mix well and invite you to partake. Flavor starts out with a yeasty, honey flavor with the malts taking prominence towards the finish. Aftertaste is very sweet and sugary - maybe the only thing in this brew I didn't care for. Would love to get some more of this stuff.

I was intrigued at what this beer might offer, but it was a disappointment. Aroma was sweet, slightly spiced but very mild. Appearance was amber in color, HUGE foamy head. Flavors were honeyish, slightly malty, slight bit of roastyness and some decent carbonation. It was a rather forgettable beer, great for someone who wants to forget their birthday.
