This award winning doppelbock (8.2% alcohol by volume) lager is brewed with a generous supply of Munich, carapils, caramel and chocolate malts and is fermented with Bavarian lager yeast. The resulting caramel sweetness and rich mouthfeel are complimented by the mild bittering of German Hallertau hops.

Nice deep brown amber pour, tall white head, ample lacing throughout. Malty sweet aroma and taste upfront, bready, more sweet malts and slight cocoa, almost a honey-like flavor, lightly hopped. A tad too sweet but still drinkable. Well-hidden ABV.

Hits the spot in late fall with a robust malty backbone. Hops are light and earthy. Almost tasted spiced, and is very bready, slightly sweet, with some caramel and brown sugar as well. Better than a 42nd percentile brew.

pours a clear light shade of orange with a tan head and little lacing. The aroma is like german malts, caramel, and booze with some hops. The taste is malty with notes of honey and oak in the flavor as well. The mouthfeel is a little thin on the body, a little watered down and the carbonation is very miminal.

A rocky mountain attempt at the doppelbock and while it doesn't fail, it doesn't lead to anything epic either. Beer pours a clear brownish-red with a thin off-white head. Butterscotch, sweet malt, and raisins make up the aroma while the flavour is a little heavy on the caramel and malt notes with the hops definitely taking a back seat.

Bottled in March 18th 2009. Aroma is so-so. No head what so ever. Heavy metallic and strong alcohol taste.. Drain pour at its best. Won't have again.

Brownish in the glass, very little head. Dominate sweetness, taste like it looks, sticky and brown. One thing with this brew is you can really notice the alcohol in two 12 oz. bottles; along with a hint of ifi drinkmoreofthiscrapitsgonnahurtreallybad on the back of the tongue. A perfectly bad example of dopplebock. Only imagination is the too cute packaging. I am the Butt Head for trying this swill.

Pours out in a clear reddish vrown colour with a small off-white head. Malty nose of caramel, fudge and prunes with touches of peppery hops. Medium to full-bodied with touches of caramel toasted bread, fudge, prunes and figs. Long balanced if a bit clean finish of caramel prunes and spicy dryish hops. Tasty Bock, this.

I wasn't very impressed with this one... very sweet and far lighter than i would have imagined. Very little taste and/or complexity here. The alcohol presence is notable, but not hateful. That is the only real saving grace. Skip it.

Kinda disappointed with this beer. I expected a heavier taste than what you actually get. It pales in comparison with other bocks I've had in the past. Nice nutty aroma, nice colour, but somehow lacks in the taste department. Very little head as well, with no lace trimmings. Bummer. The 8.2% also makes it a pretty strong beer. Watch out for that! I don't hate it, but it could be a lot better in my opinion.

The best thing about this beer for me was the kick (ABV%). The balance of flavors were a little overwhelming, but Bocks are typically heavy in flavor....especially a double. It was good, but meant more for sipping or a change of pace beer. I also read a review about not mixing with dinner, but to enjoy on it's own....which I tend to agree with.
