Beer was formerly known as King Brewery Pilsener An authentic Czech-style Pilsner, our Pickup Truck Pilsner is brewed with 100% imported Bohemian malts, Saaz hops and genuine Czech yeast. With a bright golden colour, this full-bodied beer delivers a soft texture complimented by the perfect balance of malt and hops. Its flavour begins with a pleasing malty taste, imparts a dry bitter tang, and finishes cleanly. Astute beer drinkers often describe it as the only beer of its kind in Canada that rivals true European Pilsners in quality and taste. Malt: Bohemian Pilsner Hops: Czech Saaz

Originally rated May 11, 2012. Purchased a 6-pack of this at the LCBO. Second brew tried from this brewery. Says "Ultra Premium Beer" on top label and box (did not know that something could be more than premium). Pours a slightly hazy golden colour with a frothy white cap that gives out loads of lacing. Nice grainy sweet malt nose. Decent medium-bodied with a little dryness, a little crispiness and well-balanced with some wetness. The hop shows up more in the taste. Not as sweet as the aromas, grainy with beautiful grass and slight bitterness in the finish. A really good Canadian Pilsner that is pretty close to most good Euro ones.

The beer pours a translucent dark gold with a long lasting creamy white head and lots of effervescence. The aroma is grains, herbal hops, and yeast. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is earthy hops, grains, weak caramel and yeast notes.

An excellent beer from a fine small brewer just north of Toronto. The beer pours a golden colour with a huge generous white head that lasts for a few minutes. The aroma is primarily malty with a little bit of a hoppish presence. The flavour is pretty malty with just enough hops to keep one interested.

Bottled@SBWF2007. Yellowish golden colour with small white head. A very cleanly made pils both to the aroma and flavour. Refreshing and easy to drink.

For me, this beer earned only sub-par marks at best. A beer which needs a lot of work and is far from striking in any aspect. Poured with some retention - which didnt last. I was worried right off the smell, as its aroma didnt seem too promising; I could detect little hops and the ones I could seemed far off-balance. My next complaint, to which it effected its mouthfeel as well, was very poor malting. Far from a true Czech style pilsner and below a Euro pale lager. Nearly discernable from swill and not even as quenching. After recently finding potential in some of Ontario's craft scene, this beer has sadly knocked my optimism down a few pegs.

The absolute best pils ever, even better than Moxie's. Do yourself a favour, buy this instead of Steam Whistle as it's the same price as Steam Whistle and much, much better. Of course though, I mean out of the bottle. Alas, on tap it's very watery with no taste; Steam Whistle is still the champ for fresh draught Pilsner.

Poured a slightly clouded pale gold...fair white frothy cap..good lacing, medium carbonation...promising nose..musty sweet malt tones over a floral hop presense. Medium malt body (probably a very nice blend of German light malts) that is not over powered by the tart citrus/herbal bittering hops...leaves a clean finish with a lingering metal taste...this is a hop heads pilsner that is a domestic attempt at Pilsner Urquell...but the delivery is tad unbalanced for me...but that's OK I like a malty Pils.............................................................................Having toured the brewery,( and being a home brewer myself) I was impressed that this brewer has set up a German brewing process using steam heated kettles, decoction mashing and cold lagering tanks. This, combined with a water treatment process to emulate Plzen's water, the genuine imported Czech Pilsner malts and imported saaz cone hops explain the authentic taste in this pilsner. At the brewey I was treated to a glass of "zwickel" (unfiltered) beer right from the brite tank....I wish they would make this available in bottles ;-)
