Gelbvieh (pronounced ‘Gel-Fee’) is a Franconian style Kellerbier. Brewed with our friends from Newbarns Brewery in Leith, Scotland. Expect an unfiltered and hazy gold lager with a robust bitterness and a floral, spicy hop character, dashed with notes of strawberry and fresh melon. Gelbvieh is named after a classic Bavarian cattle breed originating from the Franconian Region. Similar looking to both Simmentals and Limousins, which are found at both Newbarns Farm and in the grounds of Thornbridge Hall.

440 ml can, from Voldby Købmandsgård. ABV is 5.2%. Moderately hazy golden colour, large white head. Aroma of floral and herbal hops, hints of berries and melon. Flavour of herbal hops on a decent malty base, but not very sweet. Fairly distinct bitterness in the finish.
