Inspired by the brown ales of northern England, we brew this ale with crystal malt for color and brown malt, which provides toasted “bisquity” flavors. This ale is lightly hopped to accentuate the maltiness.

Sampled on tap at the brewpub on 12/17/2008. This brown ale pours a medium brown color from the tap. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is slightly nutty, caramel and sweet. A medium bodied brown ale. The malts are caramel and sweet, touch of nuts. The hops are earthy and floral. Nice balance. A fairly standard but nice brown ale. It went very well with my lamb burger. Good carbonation. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

02.18.05 Palish brown with wispy head. Light roast, light sweet, no assertive qualities, no substance to body, lingering cardboard. Ech.

This was probably the best beer of all the samples I tried at the brewery. Strong nutty aroma. Lots of sweet malt, caramel and even hints of coffee giving it some biterness in the finish.
