Saison Tonnellerie is a new addition to our portfolio of Belgian-inspired saison ales and it could be argued that it is the most traditional as it was 100% fermented in oak barrels. This sophisticated beer has picked up a rustic character akin to the original beers of the Belgian countryside that would be brewed in the colder months of the year, when fermentation temperatures were more forgiving, and served to the farm staff to keep their thirst quenched all summer long. With Spring upon us, you are just in time to stock up on this new ale for the warmer months.

Pours a hazy, barely translucent golden with a frothy eggshell head. Strong aroma is fruity, more like a hard apple cider.flavor is very cider-like, but with enough malt and hops to let you know it is a beer. Smooth texture is fairly fizzy, and leaves a cider-like apple finish. Tripel your pleasure, Tripel your fun--

Sampled on 11/16/2013. This saison pours a bright orange gold color from a 750ml bottle. Large sized white foamy head with good retention and nice lacing. The aroma is fruity and sweet, spicy, oaky, grainy and peppery. A touch bretty? A medium to light bodied saison. The malts are fruity and sweet. orange and orange peel. The hops are earthy and floral. Lively carbonation. A little spicy, some oak and some apricot. Fairly crisp with a dry finish. Very drinkable. Nice oak notes. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean, dry and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter

This rustic ale was the surprise of the night and IMHO far superior to the solid year round and seasonal saisons from The Bruery. Bright and aromatic, quite fruity and spicy, with a good dose of fresh grassy hops and some oak that shines through as well. One of the better saisons I've had.
