replaces what i didn't like about orchard white (the overabundance of lavender) with nutmeg, and at 9%, it's more of a background player. that said, all delicacies of a real wit go out the window. this is more a belgian strong ale that kinda sorta happens to be spiced with orange & coriander. the belgian yeast is a major player, as is the abv. looks kinda flat, but smooth and round on the feel. not bad, but still not a favorite. bruery has better for this much coin.

Sampled on 10/1/2011. This Belgian strong ale pours a slightly hazy medium orange gold from a 750ml bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity, spicy, orange peel, coriander, pepper and yeast. A medium to full bodied Belgian Strong Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet, orange and orange peel. The hops are herbal and earthy. Lively carbonation. It definitely an Imperial Wit, lots of that wheaty, citrusy, yeasty combination, but with a bigger, boulder flavor combination. The 9% alcohol is not all that evident. I did not recognize the nutmeg until after I read the label again. The nutmeg works well with the coriander and orange peel. Touch of yeast at the finish as well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
