Spiced Strong Dark Ale. The Twelve Days of Christmas series continues! We took inspiration from the traditional winter warmer for our fourth verse, integrating gingerbread spices into a robust dark ale. Notes of licorice & banana bread mingle with dark fruit, molasses and bitter chocolate for a perfect cold weather sipper!

2011 version. Pours dark chocolate with a thin head. Aroma generates boozy and roast malt notes. Flavor unleashes sharp pomme, brandy, roast malt, chocolate. Texture provides nice body & peppy fizz. Call for a glass.

I would classify this as a sour. Very tangy and tart at the start, but after a few sips noticed some mild chocolate and sweetness to balance it out. Has that Belgian feel like most of their other brews. I wanted more body and richness vs. the spices, etc. It is what it is, but not really one of the 12 years of Christmas that I'll look back on.

Rich, dark brown with quickly disapating head. Nice aroma of gingerbread, belgian yeast, and sweet malts. no hint of 11% til it gets closer to room temp. nice holiday ale. best aroma of the 3 i've had, nice smooth relatively thick bodied. flavor similar to the aroma...spice dominant and tasty.

A rich, dark classic Belgian Strong with a mild holiday spice. Dry and roasty with a residual sweetness. Finishes clean with a tangy after taste. Dark amber brown with a fluffy cap and spots of lacing. Not bad, but it left me wanting more depth.
