"ale as real as it gets" - 4.8% Appearance: Pale and golden - but not too pale as to look like lager. Nose: Lemony citrus hops with a hint of grapefruit and spicy, peppery goldings. Palate: Full on hops – styrian goldings to the fore, goldings giving a balanced middle and finally the rich malty fullness of maris otter as a backbone. The finish is refreshing with hops that become dryer if the cask lasts long enough! Summary: A modern IPA, not overly bitter but still nicely ‘hoppy’ and at 4.8%, just about a session IPA for a sensible night’s drinking. The hop profile is nothing short of stunning.

500 ml bottle, thanks to my beerpal Olav who brought it home from the Orkneys. ABV is 4.8%. Golden colour, big white head. Nice aroma of fruity and herbal hops, notes of tropical fruits, hints of pine. Light bodied, fairly dry. The flavour has fruity and herbal hops throughout, but the bitterness is fairly moderate. "Dusty" finish, long aftertaste.
