The 1st in the "S" Series is a tribute to craft brewing - the Dunkel Weiss Bock. Originally brewed in Munich in 1907, the DWB is the strongest Weiss beer ever brewed at Sudwerk. The best Yeast and wheat character of a Hefe Weizen, the malty richness of a Dunkel, and the strength of a Bock are combined to produce a smooth, well-rounded, and full-flavored taste. Mahogany in color, the DWB weighs in at a hearty 7% ABV. Raise your glass and celebrate 20 years of Sudwerk . . . Prost!

    Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

Sampled on 10/29/2010. This weizen bock pours a medium to dark brown color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized off white foamy head. The aroma is malty, caramel and sweet with a touch of grain. A medium bodied weizen bock. The malts are caramel, fruity and semi-sweet. The hops are herbal. Decent carbonation. There is some tartness here, which I assume is unintentional, but it kind of interesting none the less. Without the tartness it’s a semi-sweet weizen bock. With the tartness, its a mixture of sweet, tart and bready. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly tart.
