Iron Lion is a foreign extra stout that has been aged for 6 months in rum barrels. Deep brown with ruby highlights, this ale smells of dried fruit and roasted malt. The first sip will leave you with tastes of bitter cocoa and rum opening up to include notes of vanilla, spice and oak. Iron Lion finishes strong and dry.

Sampled at Brother's Beer Bistro. Dark brown colour with a beige head and light lacing. Crazy rum barrel aromas with banana notes, caramel and fruits. Not as present in the taste, or better balanced I should say. The stout part comes out in the finish. Hints of wood in the aftertaste. Tart/wood mouthfeel. Interesting rum barrelled stout for fans of rum. Thankfully, it was a 6oz. sample, as would of been too much to have a full pint. Also, was with nitro, which was a nice added touch.

On tap at Brothers Beer Bistro. Pours a small frothy beige head but doesn't stay long. Has a dark brown/black appearance. Lacing is ok. Almost immediately, the rum from barrel aged is very much in your face. It's almost a bit too much. Also a bit of bananas and spices.. Thankfully, the flavours are more subdued in the rum area. They are in the mix, but not overpowering. Has much more raisins, dark/dried fruits and toasty malts flavours to balance it all out. Slick and oily mouthfeel.
