I.P.A.'s were traditionally highly hopped and high in alcohol to survive the long trip from England to India. Our Third Eye P.A. is no exception with bountiful amounts of cascade hops and an alcohol content between 6.5 and 7%. This ale just may open the path to enlightenment!

CASK at the brewery. Murky peach hue with a large ice-cream-like head. Peach hop aroma, with a sugared-cereal aroma. Big apricot nose as well. Very smooth throughout the drink, with minimal bitterness. Finish is wet and fruity, and this beer almost resembles a fruit beer. I can say that the IPA on tap is completely different, and not as enjoyable. Cask is the way to go on this one. Tap gets ratings of 6/6/8/8/8

It pours a dark golden with a thick light-tan head and copious lacing. An aroma of caramel malts, hops, pine, grapefruit and citrus, grass, some yeast and spices. The mouthfeel is smooth and somewhat rich. Flavors of caramel malts, hops, grapefruit, bread and yeast, some bitterness and light spice. Very good!

Sampled on 9/14/2010. This India Pale Ale pours a light to medium orange gold color from a 12oz can. Large sized white foamy head with good lacing and long lasting retention. The aroma is fruity and sweet, grassy and floral hops. A medium bodied IPA. The malts are fruity and sweet, lot of orange flavors. The hops are grassy and floral. Lively carbonation. Nicely balanced. A medium bitter IPA. Nice orange flavors. Hard not to like an IPA in a can. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Interesting aroma, as it smells more fruity than it actually tastes. Still, a prominent grapefruit or citrus flavor, mixed with a strong malt taste, dominated the beer (with a lasting subtle bitterness). The rusty orange, or amber color, was followed by an off-white head.

I've been waiting a while to try this one. And I finally did last night, now i have a few in my fridge. Poures a muddy bright orange colour with a big white head. Taste is hoppy with a noticeable bitterness all the way through but it's well balanced. Decent grapefruit and plenty of pine and hop character on the nose. Fruity undertones round off this tastey refreshing brew.

Bottled (bought from GBBF 2008). Amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is fruity hops, some bready notes and some spices and some nuttyness. Flavour is hops, grass and some mild nuttyness. Grass and flowery hops in aftertaste. More an APA than IPA.

Another soild brew from steamworks, I am starting to like this brewer. 3rd eye poured a nice copper body with a thin off white cap. Nice friuty/ floral aroma was the highlight of this beer. Mouthfeel was smooth and the body was full. Flavor was different from the aroma, bready without the fruitiness, slight hop bite. Overall a pretty decent brew.

very appealing aroma .... lacing is screaming.... low but stand up to the man head ... dark orange in colour ... very tasty, and smooth... no alcohol detected.. a dangerously drinkable beer that if u treat like a session, might just make u meet a ditch.. better than i thought it would be.. IPA!!!

Pretty decent brew. Nose of citrus, a touch of yeast and alcohol and floral hops. Taste is pretty smooth, a bit thick/creamy and with a subtle bite all the way thru.

12 oz bottle, best by 8/06. Pours a clear golden amber with a fluffy off white head that retains well and laced the glass.
The aroma is bready malts and floral (slighlty fruity) hops.
The flavor is sweet bready malts and some citrus with a decent bitter hop finish. It's a bit astringent and metallic though. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and pretty smooth.
Overall, a decent IPA. It would be very good if not for some off flavors. It's definitely the best beer I've had from Steamworks. -
