Smoke Out is a Hellerbock-style beer with origins in the Bamberg region of Germany that is prized by beer connoisseurs for its distinctive, smoky flavor. This brew won the silver medal in the highly competitive Pro-Am category in the 2008 Great American Beer Festival. The Pro-Am category is a style category in which professional craft brewers work in tandem with award-winning members of the American Homebrewers Association (AHA) to allow home brewers the opportunity to see their recipes crafted in larger brewing facilities. This kind of project underscores Starr Hill’s interest in crafting specialized works of art in addition to our highly drinkable mainstream brews.

Bottle shared at Hootenanny. Golden pour, average white head, some lacing. Sweet malty aroma with little "smoke" aromas or flavors, nice malty base, slight floral and Noble-like hops presence, easy to drink, but just not much smoke.

I had this bee at GoFest in Roanoke VA from the Starr Hill truck. This beer is NOT a rauchbeer! It was not smoky enough and the color was all wrong ... a golden hue. While a decent beer, it gets low marks because it fails as advertised.
