Almost pure black with no highlights. From the can comes a big light mocha-coloured frothy, bubbly head, very good retention and some foamy-creamy lacing left. Warm alcohol nose with lots of roasted malts. Hints of coffee, dark fruits and very minimal chocolate notes. The taste is big on the roasted malts as well and some decent dark fruits, mostly prunes. The alcohol is well-hidden in the mouthfeel though. Well-balanced hops in the finish. Quite a nice Imperial Porter, but chocolate is not really apparent. So, wish I could taste these cocoa nibs from our local source in Almonte, Ontario.

Tall can from LCBO. Pours a huge frothing tan head and has a deep dark brown appearance. Thick dirty soapy lacing. Moderate carbonation. Aromas of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, hints of vanilla. Flavours are sweet and chocolatey, some notes of coffee and more dark roasted malts. Fairly smooth and light creamy mouthfeel. Not too bad.
