“Kriek” means cherry, and we’ve made this Belgian-style ale our own by using Door County cherry juice and some Wisconsin organic malts. Beginning with a clear cherry top note, earthiness – funk, wet hay --and tartness become more pronounced with each sip, as do the Brett and lactic acid cultures. At 5%, this is a refreshing session beer that pairs well with foods.

Pours a grapefruit color with a massive out of control head. Carbonation is not unlike a champagne or soda. Aroma is fruity, with hints of spice, and alcohol. Very sour aroma as well. Taste is unfortunately not good, most of what you can taste is metal. I can pick out anything in the taste because of the metal, it is overwhelming. Very sour and fizzy. Very unfortunate with this one, hope I got a bad bottle. I had to pour it, too uncomfortable to drink. lots of black chunks in the bottle.

Looks really good in the glass, ruby darkness in a hazy beer with fizzy head and lasting lace. Great aromas too, lots of cherries, sourness, sweetness and as mentioned by other reviews, funk. Flavor and mouthfeel were a bit light for the lively aroma but still very good. Lots of good cherry and malt flavor and a clean dry finish.

This is good, really good...thanks for sharing Louis. Dark ruby color with a fizzy light pink head and spotty lacing. Mildly soured wheat, tart cherry and some barnyard funk. Effervescent and tingly with a sweetly puckering finish. The cherries are in perfect moderation and allow the base beer to present itself. Well done Sprecher, more please.

Pours almost clear ruby pink, pours like a cherry soda - fizzy, with a slight tight light white-pink head with very little lacing. FUNKY and very tart cherry aromas with Bretts and yeasties, still not overblown though - very "Americanized", yet very tingly to the nose. Taste is light tart upfront with the sour coming through, then the sweet and tart cherries come through very nicely but again, not OVER cherried, with a funk linger. As suggested in the beer profile, each sip gets more tart and more funky. Good effort and a nice anniversary beer from Sprecher.
