Pours a deep ruby, clear, with a fluffy cream-colored head. Fades after a bit leaving chunky lacing. The aroma is of sweet malt, caramel, crisp bitterness, hint of smoke. The taste follows the aroma, sweet malt, crisp bitterness with a bit of smoke in the aftertaste. The mouth feel is slick but hefty in body.

Strong, malty aroma has notes of cloves, cinnamon, wood and caramel. Pours a clear sepia with a fluffy and thick, if not too persistent, dark buff head. Flavor - hoo ha, now this is good! Malty, woody, earthy, with hints of cloves and hops, subtle bitter and sweet notes. Smooth texture has average body and fizz, but leaves a nice woody, malty and slightly hoppy texture. This is no wee beer, laddies and lassies!

Not as big a beer as expected but still good. Typical Scotch Ale colour. A rough pour gives it a great head. It shrinks but lasts till the end. Laces well. Weak aroma for the style, something like wet peat. Sweet caramel flavour with some peat smokiness. Medium body. The more you drink the better it gets.

The aroma started off a little dusty if that makes sense. Poured in the mid-40's, but as it got warmer and warmer, this beer REALLY opened up. Glad I took my time. Nice layered aroma and flavor of dark and light fruits, quite malty, slight smoke, carmel, very earthy/woodsie. Opened up to a nice creamy feel as well. Good reminder of why I like this style, and this brewer.

A deep mahogany colored beer with a big frothy textured light beige colored head rising above. There's some hang time. A thin ringlet is left behind. A woodsy profile with sweet, smoky malt in nose and tasting. Medium bodied.

Glad i got this one! Pours a dark cloudy reddish brown colour with a big off white head. The aroma of this beer is woodsy, caramel, smokiness all around. Taste is creamy, rich and full of dark fruit. Man this is one full bodied brew!

Pours dark amber brown with minimal head and a little lacing. Aroma was smoke. Flavor was super smokey, almost Aecht Schlenkerla smokey, with lots of sweet brown sugar. It was good, but not great. Maybe a tad too sweet and sugary.

12.20.04 bomber, #6 from the BIG BEER series. Hazy red beer with unever, though creamy, tan head. Strong alcohol nose and plenty of sweet earth and peat. Strawberry? Toasted marshmallow? Flavors in line with aroma -- reminds of a granola, wheat and corn flake, and dehydrated fruit breakfast cereal. Lots of earth, some wood; chocolate on back of palate. Good stuff, very boozy.

First off appears black but looking through it at a light it turns a gorgeous dark ruby red. The head is thin and fleating. The aroma is an interplay of dark malts and bitter hops. The flavor is robust, nice dark malts, cola and some burned bitterness. Sweet and thinly syrupy.
