Shiner Kölsch™ is a delightfully effervescent, clean brew authentically fashioned after the German Kölsch biers of the 1800’s. The Kölsch Bier style originated in Cologne, Germany, in the 1850s as an alternative to the Pilsners of the day. Kölsch Bier is mashed for an extended period of time, then fermented relatively warm and aged cold. The warm, extended fermentation generates a beer with fruity notes and a crisp, clean finish—ideal for hot summer days.

Comes out of the tap a pretty clear and slightly orangy amber. Crisp, fruity aroma has a powdered-drink undertone. Flavor is not strong but is pleasingly crisp, fruity, a little dusty and a little sour. Smooth, fizzy texture is powdery and just a bit on the thin side. A refreshing way to welcome summer - which it might as well be right now in Atlanta! (And it’s only mid-May!)

Pours a crisp golden with average white head and some lace. Aroma of malts, hops, apples, although having a "cheap" background smell. The mouthfeel is smooth, zesty, although goes thin & watery fast. Flavor of sweet malts, light hops, and mild spice. Pretty good overall.

This is a good beer. It pours a golden hay color with a small, white head that quickly disipates. There is a corn and citrus aroma. It has a full, doughy taste with a sour citrus note. The finish is crisp and lightly hopped but slightly harsh. A refreshing kölsch beer.

An American-made brew modeled after the famous Kolsch beers of Cologne (Köln), Germany, this beer is a bubbly summer brew with three types of hops - Hallertau, Magnum, and Mount Hood - that combine for a moderately-sharp taste that finishes clean. Refreshing and balanced, light in color, pours clear.

Very pale with a white head. Highly carbonated. Lots of pilsner and corn aroma. Very clean and crisp. Not something I’d ever buy, but it was hot as hell out, and this hooked me right up.

The aroma is malty and sweet with some hay and some corn coming through and is crisp and clean. The appearance is a deep, golden yellow with a very large and fuzzy head on top that is white in color and diminishes to a light and rocky lacing that remains. The mouthfeel is light and crisp as well as smooth and wet with nice balances of malts and hops. The flavor is crisp, refreshing, sharp, and clean with some sweetness in the aftertaste as well as some hay or grass with a finish that is clean and very easy to drink. Overall, a good beer here and a pretty spot-on representation of the kolsh-style and is a good Summer brew.

Poured a golden color with a small, white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of grassy hops, citrus fruits, toffee, some doughy malts, but maybe a hint of DMS in the background. Dry, doughy, more grass, with some tart citrus, and a crisp, lightly hopped finish. A bit of astringency detracts from an otherwise respectable kölsch.

Pours a fizzy, clear gold with a white head that fades to a ring of foam. The aroma is slightly peppery hops. The flavor is a sweet hay malt body that either needs to dry out or needs more bitterness to crisp this up a bit.

I had the summer stock afew years ago when i was but just a young man and it like me. So, when her name got changed i'd thought i'd give her a ring..:we met up later:... Same refreshing nature, subtle yet delightful honey smell, her head was ample..? and she still had some bitterness after all these years. God, Did I enjoy drinking down her delicous summer juices!......!?!?!
...but she really is just cheap and average. -

Flat mouthfeel and somewhat fruity, but not as hoppy as I prefer/expect and lacking malt character even for a Kolsch. It fits the style and pretty much what I expected, but it just doesn't have much to offer.
