On tap at Brauhaus. Crystal clear golden amber beer with thick frothy white head. Sweet malt nose. No carbonation but laces well. Grainy taste with touches of corn and sunflower seeds. Dry finish. Easy-drinking but quite complex for a Kolsch.

Enjoyed greatly at Die Hausbrauerei Päffgen pub. It poured out of a wooden cask via gravity feed into 0.2l tall straight sided glass with crystal clear gold body and tall white head with spotty clingy lacing. The modest aroma is soft, inviting and delivering crisp fresh spicy hops, a bit of earthy hops and faint grainy malts in the background. The taste unloads first a pleasing fresh spicy hoppiness. It then quickly picks up smooth and nourishing fresh grainy malts and then some floral hops in a supporting role. It remains crisp and fresh into the finish. This is scratching me right where I itch. It leaves a pleasing spicy hoppiness and a fading grainy maltiness deep into the after taste. At 0.2l per pour it seems odd and interesting that before I knew it I had tossed back 5 or 6 of them.

Draught@One Pint Pub, Helsinki. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is earth cellar, some maltyness, mild fruits and some herbs. Flavour is being quite similar with a mild salty and herbal touch as well.

This little brewery caught my eye as we were leaving the Beer Museum bar, passing the Heurmarkt, and heading toward the Dom/Cathedral. We stopped in and enjoyed a pretty nice and crisp kolsch there. This was authentically brewed in and poured from a wood barrell with lower natural carbonation levels. There wasn't a lot to distinguish this from the average Kolsch, although it sure beat out Dom and Sion in
