The most popular craft beer in Texas, with an old style name. Golden red in appearance, pretty clear, off white head that lasts. Aroma is weak, mainly grains, caramel, and hops. Flavor is sweet, and then rapidly becomes bitter. It's okay at best!

I had this at Cheddar's in Roanoke, VA. This isn't a terrible beer - a solid American attempt at a dunkel. It was malty, slick feeling. Not the best but not the worst either. It's a fine beer to drink if it is the best option available.

Pine and cotton candy in the nose, sweet malt. Brown with touch of red body topped with shortlasting white fizzy head that leaves a bit of lace. Mouth is medium bodied and slick, touch undercarbonated. Not much flavor, grain and sugar and mild. Texas should maybe not be brewing beer.

Very dark yellow in color and pours that pours a thick white foamy head.Very light bitterness with mild hop taste. The taste is not very complex and almost on the side of being watery.

Darker yellow color with OK foam head. Aroma is bit sweet, but drink is OK bitter and not too sweet. It's a pitty that in bars this is served too cold. Drank in hotel room, great taste.(Houston 201201)

pours a nice amber color, with a small head that disappears quickly with a excellent aroma of roasted malts. The beer was nicely carbonated. The taste was actually quite good with caramel malts with a slight hop finish.

Upon pour, there is not much head. Whatever head does form, quickly dissolves into nothingness. No lacing on the glass. Color is copper. The mouthfeel feels like I'm drinking a glass of water. This may be a have again, but not for a while.

It pours a solid copper color with a thin white head and some lacing. An aroma of roasty caramel malts, light hops, bread pudding, citrus, light raisin, and mild spices. The mouthfeel is smooth and rich. Flavors of caramel malts, hops, citrus, bread pudding, light raisin, and light spices. Very good altogether .. can't go wrong with Shiner.

I found this little gem when I was on travel in Waco, TX. The beer poured good with a nice brown tint and a small good looking head. Good beer to sit around and B/S with your friends.
