I was lucky enough to get a bottle of this with some signifigant age on it. It was at least 2 years old, possibly 3 or even 4. Which ever it was, it was a nice beer with some good malty sweetness to it. The nose is a bit of wet cardboard, some whiskey notes, brown sugar and prune juice. Appearance is a deep woody brown, barley any head at all. Mouthfeel is slightly thick. Flavor is alcohol, caramel malts, and a touch winey. A nice beer for a nice cold December night playing Rock Band.

Red color, medium head. Rich malt flavor, nicely hopped. Good balance. Fully smooth mouthfeel. Lingering malt sweetness. 8% alcohol but no alcohol bite. Really nice beer. Finish is very smooth. Aftertaste is malty, some sweetness, slight bitterness.

This is actually quite a good looking beer.. a clear garnet red almost chesnut brown small off white head that leaves some nice lace. The aroma is pretty pleasant chocolat malts..with a slight wiff of the alcohol..at first the aroma was bad..but it improved after about 10 minutes . As expected with a dopple its very malty..but its too "thin" really the alcohol shows through in a "winey" way..heats the throat and chest afterwards. too thin for my likeing on the palate..too carbonated. For all its faults its definatlly a "winter warmer'...nice one.

Brownish/red appearance with a moderate head. Aroma is malty. Flavor is a malt punch with some caramel, prune, and raspberry flavor. The alcohol is quite noticeable and dominates the flavor. This is basically an Irish Red on stereoids. Medium bodied with a syrupy mouthfeel. A strange doppelbock but a decent beer.

This was a nice, rich fullbodied doublebock, smooth and easy going down, with a nice aftertaste (a lingering sweetness) Color was a nice deep amber, with negligible head retention, but just the right amount of carbonation. The 8% alcohol content gave a nice warmth to the old gullet. Recommend this one for the holidays.

Deep brown in color, malty, sweet,no edge or bite. 8% ABV. Incredibly easy drinking. My fave dopplebock.
