Tried as one of the 12 beers of winter. Poured a very nice clear copper with very thin head and lacing. The aroma was of malt, smoke, and hops. I would agree with an earlier reviewer who wrote that this was best paired with food. This would be a good beer to go with the starter course of a paired beer meal. This would go well with cheese or nuts. The smokey flavor with work well with simple foods. I could see this followed up by a brown ale with a hint of vanilla.

It's flavor is definitely special, but for some reason reminds me of a smoked cheese. This type of beer was probably designed to be paired with a specific food, and to drink it without leaves something "in the bottle." (like a team leaving something on the field) Okay, but this is still a nice dark, thicker beer, with the standard hops and a roasted aroma. One to try, but a little too off the path for me.

Its made with Bamberg smoked malt and its the first beer I have tried that has that nice smokey flavor. Would go great with a steak or hot dog.. Omg its delicious. Only downfall is I can only find it in the 12 beers of Winter pack.
