Caitlin DeClercq created her Honey Bee’s Lavender Wheat with dried lavender petals, giving it a fragrant but soft aroma. A citrus tartness and slight sweetness from the honey and vanilla balance out the finish in this California resident’s brew, perfect to sip while kicking back and relaxing.

It pours a bright yellow-gold with a thick and foamy white head and copious lacing. A bready aroma of fresh caramel malts, hops, lemon and citrus, a flower garden, grassiness, bitterness, and light spiciness. The mouthfeel is smooth and fairly rich. Flavors of caramel malts, hops, lemon and citrus, grassiness, light berries, and spiciness. Very good!

A very unique beer, really glad I tried it. Pours a golden pour with a nice white head. Spicey flavor with floral notes, honey on the back. Light, refreshing, and very different.

Pours a nice clear bubbly amber with an average but still respectable white head. Malty aroma has a fruity hint and a definite overtone of lavender and a whisper of honey sweetness. Lavender dominates the malty, yeasty flavor but serves only to make this beer distinctive, not better or worse than others of its kind. Yes, it does indeed taste the way lavender smells - remember that the senses of smell and taste are closely related! There is a subtle honey undertone that complements the other flavors nicely. Texture is quite smooth and fizzy, and leaves a nice tingle and a unique finish.

Props to Sam Adams for the longshot series, great concept indeed. Wasn't sure if I was going to like this one or not, but I have to say it was pretty nice. A deep golden hued body, with a nice thick cap, mouthfeel was just right with a sharp carbonation bite. Flavors of honey and sweet malts, a slight hop presence rounds it out, lavender shows in the aftertaste.

Pours clear amber with a faint head that laces but a bit. Floral citrus and sweet to the nose with a smooth, lightly sweet sensation to the pallette with a hint of spice. Crisp and clean - very enjoyable, but something that I'd have to really be in the mood for. From the Longshot 23 mixed 6-er.

A crystalline clear amber colored beer. A big creamy textured, white head rises robustly above. Pretty good hang time on this one. It settles eventually into a well formed soapy ringlet and consistent ringlet, still present after the beer is gone. The nose is floral. The tasting a well crafted blending of levender and malt. A light medium bodied beer is effervently mooth. Very well craft beer.

Sampled on 5/13/2011. This spiced ale pours a medium orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head with nice lacing and good retention. The aroma is honey, lavender, fruity and sweet, with a hint of vanilla. A medium to light bodied spiced ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are herbal and spicy. Nice lively carbonation. Crisp and clean. There is some honey in the background, which adds some to the overall sweetness of this beer. The lavender seems to work well here. Nice summer beer. Again thanks to Sam Adams for making these kind of beer every year. This beer, and beer like it, would probably have never seen the light of day if it weren’t for the Longshot contest. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean, dry and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

This is one of those situation where I could use half points in the ratings. Flavor is higher than a 7, but not quite an 8 for me. I like all 3 in this variety pack. Props to these homebrewers. This has some pilsner characteristics, some decent hops. Nice balance. The lavender isn't overwhelming. Smooth mouthfeel. A better spring/summer beer than their noble pilz. I would not mind seeing this in the steady seasonal line of Sammy brews.

Quite surprised with this beer .. pours a deep gold, good foam .. . light spice, lavender, honey and like a cinnamon-esqe spritz .. . nice and light, my mom liked it quite a bit .. . pretty good .. . Dave, if medicine tasted good, I'd be pouring cough syrup on my pancakes.
