The bottle says black ale....I am going with that versus a stout. On the thin side, scaling back on the malt a bit. Has the English feel to it. Not something I would pay this price for again...worth the try I guess. Good to try something new, but will pass unless traveling overseas and see it on tap or something.

I dunno. This beer just did nothing for me and to call it a stout (if that’s what it is even) seems to be a slap in the face to stouts across the globe. When I first poured it, I thought that maybe it was a schwarzbier, but a day after drinking it I see it’s labeled as a stout (...shaking head). The beer pours out a black body but with brown edges and basically a near zero head. Aroma was light roasted malts and nothing else. Flavor had the same lack of character...just roasted malts. Rather bitter in the flavor with little sweet malt to even it up a little. Watery mouthfeel. Just...blech.

Black body with hints of garnet at the edges. The thick head is light brown, like a brown sugar color. The aroma has some prunes and dark bread. There is also some cocoa powder. The taste has some rich notes of toasted bread and some prunes. Finishes fairly dry. A decent brew, with some distracting and harsh carbonation.

Bottled. Very dark rubyish brown colour with big beigeish brown foamy head. Lacing. Aroma is smoked wet wood, some licorice and dark dry fruits. Also some hints of coffee and roast. Flavour is bigtime roasted malts along with some wooden and caramelly notes. Also some coffee asit warms. Aftertaste is burnt wet wood and some mild coffeeish notes.
