Lifeless amber pour with sporadic bubbles moving in seemingly slow motion. Sweet malts o'plenty with a faint alcohol burn, lots of raisins, plums and various dark fruits. Medium bodied and very warming. Better than the score would indicate.

Pour was dark copper with amber highlights. Aroma was fruity and reminiscent of grapes. The flavor followed suit, red grapes and really boozy, but enjoyable. Strong and not for the faint of heart. Pleasantly surprised.

sweetness hits the nose first. grainy, with a little alcohol, and burnt sugar, also present in the flavor. i'm admittedly not a big fan of the style or the brewer, but that said, this wasn't half bad. not worth the premium price, but not something i'd turn down.

I've never really liked bocks, from dunkler to eis, but this i did kinda enjoy .. . pours a light transparent tan brown .. . nice, nice hey, the cat gets my seat and i have no say! .. . aroma and mouth share notes of maple syrup, light wood, bourbon, caramel, and clubbed baby seals .. . calm the hell down! .. . a nice version of the style and a good redhook product- sigh, product used to be one of my favorite words! ..

sampled on 11/27/10. 22oz bottle with mitch. bottled 8/30/10. pours a clear, deep copper color. thin head. aroma is malty sweet, brown sugar. taste is fruity, brown sugar, citrus, sweet. some alcohol hotness, but it smooths out and works. body is full. finish is smooth. aftertaste is a little sweet. a real nice beer to sit and sip. i'd like to find a few of these to age a bit.

Sampled on 11/27/2010. Bottled Aug 30, 2010. This eisbock pours a orange gold color from a 22 oz bottle. Medium to small sized white foamy head. Aroma is caramel, orange, fruity and sweet with a hint of alcohol. A medium to full bodied eisbock. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet, touch of orange and some alcohol. The hops are herbal and floral. Decent carbonation. There is a fairly decent alcohol bite throughout this beer, but it does mellow a bit as it warms. Most definitely a great sipping beer. Kind of has the brandy mouthfeel. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
