The Witty Traveller’s tale opens with a potpourri of spices and fruit – sweet anise seed and subtle orange rind. As you delve deeper into the libation you discover clove and bananas alongside soft and sweet arrowroot biscuit with a short layover of bubble-gum before cleansing fresh-pepper and gingersnap.

Canned versions of Belgian styles always have me worried, and that worry was warranted in this case. A hazed light yellow pour is accompanied by a huge white head that doesn’t last very long. The nose is a muddled mess of wheat and spices and the flavour is no better, very heavy in the spice and light on the hops and malt.

The beer pours a very hazy lemonade colour with a rocky snow white head. The aroma is citrus, wheat, cloves, yeast, and grass. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is wheat, pepper, yeast, and cloves. I like it, quite refreshing and would make a great summer session beer. -

Single can from the LCBO. Had actually 2 different label (one was a cheap sticker over the can and then, the better one with a wrap around). Pours a slight hazy, light golden colour with a fizzy white head and not much left within a small amount of time. Lots of yeast in the smell and taste. A little tart on the tongue because of this. The wheat is present, but on the mild side. Citrus and coriander as well reminding me of Belgian Ales, but watered-down and not as well-balanced. Still, decent overall.

On tap at Arrow and Loon. Pours no head whatsoever and has a pale golden appearance. Has orange, tropical fruit aromas with notes of wheats and grains. Flavours are very fruity, light malts, floral hops and wheats. Light banana notes as well. Seems like lots of tropical fruitiness, and strong hoppy bitterness. Very mild warming sensation. Little bit of a tingling mouthfeel as well. Pretty good.
