This refreshing, lightly hopped ale has unique banana and clove-like characteristics and it's served with the yeast. We add just a little bit of rye malt to give it a Texas kick!

Pours a nice translucent golden with a good white head. Wheaty and yeasty aroma has average strength and a citrus undertone. Flavor exceeds the thin promises of the aroma - firmly wheaty and citrusy, very refreshing and delicious. Firm texture is fairly fizzy and leaves a citrus and wheaty finish. Good summer wheat beer!

Finishing my second as i type this, but so far i am not impressed with it. Very faint aromas a little banana and spice,(not clove). Mouthfeel was a little watery, flavor was kinda bland and it was a little flat. Overall, i wont purchase again.

My second of two Rahr & Sons brews. And while I was quite taken with their Helles (aka Blonde Lager), this one is just a little simple IMHO.

Sometimes their beauty in simplicity -- the fine lines of a classic sports car, or the classic beauty of the likes of female movie stars from the 40's and 50's, and so on, and so forth.

But there is also something to be said for stepping beyond the norm, to take a classic and make it your own. In this case, a Hefeweizen. Now, there isn't as much leeway with experimentation with this style, compared to, say, a Belgian Strong Dark Ale, or what-have-you. But I think (in this case, at the very least) that toeing the party-line, style-wise, has made for a beer that has no faults per se, except that's it's just too simple and basic..., and thus a little boring. And yes, that includes the ryr that's said to be in this brew.

By the way, when will American brewers figuire out to replicate the big mounding head of foam that you will find in even the cheapest German Hefe's? This beer's head was adequate at first, but quickly disappeared. And coupled with the fact that this beer was not nearly cloudy enough, this really dropped the ball with me from the get-go.

Finishable, but I couldn't tell you much about it mere minutes after finishing it off. Very forgettable. Thirst-quenching, but that's not exactly a difficult task for most any reasonably constructed beers out these days.

Merely adequate, nothing more, nothing less. Puts me in the mood for an authentic Bavarian Hefe...
