If Pumpkin Ale strikes you as a recent invention, we’re afraid that Post Road cannot take the credit. Early American colonialists, wisely seeking natural ingredients for brewing ales, turned to pumpkins, which were plentiful, flavorful and nutritious. Often blended with barley malt, pumpkins became a commonly used beer ingredient. Dozens of recipes survive from that period, and Post Road Pumpkin Ale brings back this tasty tradition. Hundreds of pounds of pumpkins are blended into the mash of each batch, creating a beer with an orange amber color, warm pumpkin aroma, biscuity malt center, and crisp finish. We expect that you will agree with our colonial forebears - when it comes to pumpkins, pie is fine, but ale is better. Availability: October through the holidays in 12-ounce bottles, 15.5 and 5.2 gal kegs.

Courtesy of Degarth. Pours a nice clear copper with decent off white head. The aroma is mild pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and sweet malts. It doesn’t smell too much like sweet pumpkin extract or over the top fresh pumpkin vegetation like others I’ve had in the past. But the nose comes up short of exciting. The taste is tart at first with cinnamon and nutmeg all hitting together and a little too bright. The pumpkin is really taking a back seat to the three initial flavor notes. Shame really. Leaves a lingering spicy taste behind of cinnamon and nutmeg. Really too much of those two are mixed into this beer.

I think this is my first road post. Flighty airy spice aroma. Light iced tea look. Creamy off white head. Good carbonation. Building processed metallic industrial bitterness on the back of the palate. Veggie and spice flavorers make this unique beer feel quite malty.

Bottle: Poured orange brown with an off white head. Aroma is a mix of pumpkin and spice. Taste is full of floral and spice, little light on the pumpkin.

Medium size offwhite head, fades pretty quick. Nice orange /amber color, clear. Pumpkin pie spices galore in the nose. Med/light body. Cinnamony, somewhat bready, malty flavors. Dry, clean finish. Nice punkin ale.

Brown/Orange pour with a thick white head. Lots of carbonation. Fair amount of lace. Sweet smelling notes with hints of pumpkin and spice. Very nice pumpkin ale.

Pours a fair size foamy head and has a clear amber coppery appearance. Aromas of malts, mild pumpkin spice and resiny hops. Flavours have a pretty good mix of spices and sweetness, malts, pumpkin pie, rusty like hops. Somewhat of a wet mouthfeel. A bit of a tingly sensation on the palate. Fairly well balanced. Not bad but could've used a bit more spices overall. Pumpkin flavours is actually mild compared to others.

Not offensive in any way. Mild sweet pumpkin aroma with muted spices. Smooth clean taste with crisp medium-high carbonation. Pumpkin, cinnamon and vanilla are detectable, but just barely. Decent light pumpkin ale, but probably not one I'll buy again.

Pours out a dark orange color with a tan head. The aroma is mostly of hops. The mouthfeel is bitter. The flavor is not that great I'd have to say this is my least favorite of any of the pumpkin beers I have tried.

I was not impressed, this beer was disappointing because the other beers from Brooklyn I have tried have been good, the aroma was better than the taste.
