Hop Head Pale Ale Alcohol by volume: 4.7% Grain: Pale Ale Mat, Crystal Malt, Wheat Malt, Black Malt. Hops: Pilgrim (UK), Nuggett(US), Cascade(US), Hallertau Northern Brewer(Germany). In response to growing interest in American style pale ales the Porterhouse has decided to resurrect a beer from our past. Based on a beer brewed somewhat ahead of its time, in our brewpub days, Hop Head is a highly aromatic, bitter, pale ale, made with the intention of satisfying the hop heads amongst us. Amber coloured, with a distinct malt character, generous use of hops for bittering and the triple addition of cascade and Hallertau Northern Brewer hops gives a conspicuous citrus character for both aroma and flavour. Along with a slightly higher alcohol content this results in a rich, fruity beer with an oily, citrus hop character and wonderfully rich, full mouthfeel.

    Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

    Small bubbles, good head, quite think mouthfeel, slightly oily and big in the mouth. Very bitter, mostly of dried out orange segments and bitter tree sap. Medium to almost light bodied, but heavy and big. Certainly unlike anything called Pale Ale brewed in the British Isles (I am aware of the distinction of Dublin being in Ireland technically) outside of BrewDogs line-up (and now Old Dairy as well). GREAT!
