Aroma is strong and hoppy, rather like an IPA, with hints of malt and herbs. It pours a clear, dark mahogany with a thick, fluffy, pale tan head that sticks around for a while. Flavor is fairly hoppy but barely bitter, and has some maltiness and subtle sweetness as well as a hint of wood. Flavor is silver smooth with a subtle tingle, and it leaves a bit of a fizz plus some hoppy hints.

1 pt. 6 fl. oz. bottle, as Port Brewing Shark Attack Double Red Ale, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9.0%. Hazy reddish brown colour, moderate off-white head with an orangey hue. Lovely and complex aroma of fruity and piney American hops, on a sweetish background of crystal malts. The flavour is medium sweet with plenty of crystal malts, and loads of resinous and grapefruity hops. The bitterness in the finish is substantial, but not too extreme. Good stuff.

draft into a standard pint. Poured a hazy ruby-reddish with a small one-finger off-white head. Nose is very sweet - caramel and some citrus. Taste - caramel, grapefruit, piney hops, spices, dry roasted malt and alcohol warming. There is some interplay between the sweetness and the hops of this beer that initially wasn't appealing but luckily got better as I drained this. Mouthfeel - medium to heavy body with healthy carbonation in evidence. While I liked this, I don't think I could have more than one at a sitting.

good, but the reds are just not the best of the port brews. gimme a stone 13 or a gordon any day. this has a definite hoppy aspect, but is very dark and malty as well. nutty, semi sweet malt, and more bittering hops, slightly floral. good, but not great.

Smells sugary and malty with some mild citrus and carmel with a big hop background. Pours a very pretty amber with a nice white head. Medium body that is highly carbonated but it works well with he amount of alcohol in this. Smooth and very crisp finish. Flavor was stunning... in fact it is what I had hoped for when I first smelled the nose! Huge hop profile and a very sweet malt combination going on here. Herbal and a bit spiced.. it almost taste like a very strong imperial red which I love! This brew was fantastic... Highly Recommended!

Pours out in a clear reddish brown colour with a ricky tan head. Sweet and hoppy aroma of peaches, flowers, lemon.zest, mild pepper and caramel. Full-bodied with notes of pin-needles, nectarines, caramel, lemon-zest, red berries and grapefruit. Rounded chewy mouthfeel. Bitter finish of grapefruit, flowers and lemon.zest with dense caramelly undertones.

Purchased from Lone Hill Liquor in Glendora, an awesome place to find beers. Im disappointed in Port Brewing so far. They make unique beers which keeps me trying them but so far none have astounded me. Had a decent red ale taste but a little too malty for my palette, decent hop balance. Had some alcohol taste on the first few sips, but mellowed out. This got better the more it went down but wasnt the big hoppy red I like; perhaps I need to try these on tap.

I ordered a bomber of this from Hi-Time Wine Cellars. Pours a deep reddish-amber color with hardly any head at all. The aroma is herbal with a blend of caramel malts and citrus hops, creating a nice scent. I was expecting this to be a hop heavy beer but that wasn't the case at all. It is sweet tasting with lots of caramel malt and grapefruit hops with a hint of a dark fruit character. The sweet malts pretty much even out the hops. I thought this drank a lot like a barleywine. A little alcohol sting in the finish but overall this is rather light for the abv. Maybe a little too sweet and not what I was expecting but a pretty good beer. Not something I can drink too much of at one seating unless I'm really in the mood. Got halfway through the bomber... I think I might save the rest for another time if it holds up.

22 oz bottle. Pours a reddish brown with a creamy off white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is sweet caramel malts, melon, and piney grapefruity hops and a touch of alcohol.
The flavor is sweet caramel malts, pepper, alcohol, sour apples and tarry hops. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with a velvety finish.
Overall, almost an awesome beer. The flavor was a bit subdued and didn't do it for me.
