more lively than shark bote, the port double? red. fruity sweetness and ample bitterness from the hopping. a very nice ale that is somewhere between a red, strong ale, and dipa.

Sampled on 2/17/2011 at Beer Revolution. This American Strong Ale pours a medium reddish color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity, caramel and hoppy. A medium bodied American Strong Ale. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet. The hops are citrusy and grapefruity. Decent carbonation. Nice balance. Big bad West coast beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is bitter.

draft into a standard pint. Poured a hazy ruby-reddish with a small one-finger off-white head. Nose is very sweet - caramel and some citrus. Taste - caramel, grapefruit, piney hops, spices, dry roasted malt and alcohol warming. There is some interplay between the sweetness and the hops of this beer that initially wasn't appealing but luckily got better as I drained this. Mouthfeel - medium to heavy body with healthy carbonation in evidence. While I liked this, I don't think I could have more than one at a sitting.

Citrus and caramel explosion. This beer a bright, hazy red-amber with a creamy ecru head. The aroma is like a big citric American hop dipped in caramel. There’s a splash of acetone, but it doesn’t overwhelm. The hops dominate the aroma somewhat, but the malt comes out in the flavor. The beer is just the right level of sweet for its sub-style. I’d put this beer just a half step or so behind the wonderful Winter YuleSmith.

Had a pint of this at O'Brien's this evening, while I was kinda floundering in the vast selection of beers to be had, thanks to publican Tom Nickles. But after getting a pint of this, I'm still kinda glad that I took a chance on this.

But...., at the same time...., I can't say that this is all that other-worldly. As I mentioned to my bud Richard, this seems like it's more along the lines of "Arrogant Bastard's younger and dumber kid brother".

Ruddy-red body, with only enough foam on top to make sure you knew that this was indeed carbonated correctly. Slightly metallic in the nose (if that's even possible), but otherwise interesting.

But I can't say that I was really blown away by this one in the flavor department. That is to say, there was very little here that I haven't dealt with at some other time or place before. Overly sturdy, and a bit dense, overall.

I really love most of the PIzza Port offerings, but this one in particular did very little for me, to be honest. Seek out the Frank or Hop 15 if you really want some over-the-top hoppy goodness, IMHO....

Has a very bloody feel to the color with some generous head. Decent hops, caramel malts to it. Alchohol is definetely present. Solid all the way through.

Cask. Dark copper color with minimal head which quickly went away. VERY hoppy for a red. Alcohol finish.

I’m actually not that impressed with this one. It pours with a deep amber body topped by a thick creamy head with tons of lacing. The aroma is slighlty sweet and malty with a slight caramel note and lots of flowery notes. The flavor is bitter and flowery with a slight sweetness and a very slight bit of caramel. Medium to full bodied, smooth and a touch dry.

GABF2004... Poured a cloudy caramel color with a small off white head. Aroma was very sweet with fruity hops. Hoppy sweet malts with light bitterness.
