Coal black pour with a muddy head, densely packed with bubbles. Full bodied creamy mouthfeel. Nose is not as strong as I was expecting but hinted at some molasses. Flavor has all the characteristics you want in an Imperial. Dark chocolate, coffee, molasses and some hop bitterness balancing things out. Alcohol is expertly hidden. Definite winner from the brewers at Pizza Port!

Had this twice in the span of three days: draught at The Liar's Club, and then cask-conditioned on the first night of the San Diego Real Ale Festival. And while both serving types presented this beer quite well, it really comes into it's own when poured without any excess CO2 in the equation.
Do I really need to say this was black as midnight without a moon? Or that the minimal carboantion made this silky and oh-damn-that's-smooth? Probably not. Every Imperial Stout worth it's weight in malt ought to have at least these two traits going for it. But where things get interesting for this one is when you get to aroma, which says so many things about this. Very complex, a little fruity, definately hopped with some ballsy hops, etc.
This is very warming, and something that perhaps deserves a more reputable atmosphere than either The Liar's Club and/or the first night of a crowded beer `fest. But until this gets bottled by the Pizza Port folks (that is to say, not likely), I will look forward to savoring this grande beer again in the future.

To the surprise of no one, this pours jet black.Maybe with imperial stouts we should only note the color if it isN't jet black... THis is a nicely balanced imperial stout. The flavors of coffee, molasses & chocolate are evened out with some hoppiness. The word I'd use to describe this imperial is "silky". It's smooth and the alcohol is not even apparent. Well done

So this was bourbonesque one time and then not the other two times, but it was still damn good on all occasions. Deep black with a thick ass brown head. Had a dark chocolate coffee thing going in the aroma and tasted like a glass of german chocolate cake. A fine stout. Did i forget to mention that it was this brew that inspired the both of us (silk and I) to get tatted out.

Dark black with a huge hop bitterness and a mellow coffee and chocoltae sweetness. I tasted a bit of sour apricot in there as well.

This imperial stout pours with a black body topped by a medium thick tan, lasting head with lots of lacing. The aroma is slightly sweet and slightly bitter with notes of anise and a slight roastiness. The flavor is slightly sweet, chocolatey and malty wtih a good roastiness and bitter undertones. Full bodied and smooth with a slight dryness.
