"Big Beer" flavor, with lots of malt and hops. A winter classic.

Well balanced beer. Caramel, butterscotch, light hops, fruit and spices...no alcohol showing. Maybe a hint of brown sugar? Pretty easy drinking ale, but with enough going on to hold your interest.

Glad that I got this on clearance. 2nd sample from thie brewer and liking what I am seeing so far. This is one of those simple beers. Description says "lots of malt", but the ingredients say "malted barley, water, hops, yeast ......" along with the other spices. Balance works well for me and is a nice representation of a winter ale. Does not seem that malty, and like a lighter version of a barleywine...or has that pale ale feel. Will look for this again next season.

Aroma has malty and vegetable qualities with a hint of fruit. It pours a clear mahogany with a thick pale golden head. Malty flavor has a crisp, almost cider-like, fruity overtone and touches of hops and butterscotch. Smooth flavor has body that is on the thicker side, though it lacks fizz. Worthy of a try, if not outstanding.

A dirty orange colored beer with a medium sized, foamy testured off white head. Not much hang time. And no lacing left behind. The profile in neither the nose or on the palate is overwhelming. Sweet malt, warming spices. Medium bodied, low carbonation.

Brew is a strange dirty honey brown color with a massive cap that made the beer hard to pour. Yum yum smell!!!! White grape juice, juniper berries (thanks Jeff for that one) Sweet fresh apple, and a nice hop presence. Beer feels so thick in the mouth…………….. honey, grapes, nice citrus hops that aren’t too aggressive so they don’t mask the other flavors and nice thick malts. Good brew and high quality!

A winter seasonal that I had on a recent trip to Seattle and Vancouver. It pours and orange brown with a tan bubbly head. The aroma is sweet malt, spices, and citrusy hops. The flavour has malt with hints of cinnamon and coriander. Very good beer!
