The beer poured a translucent reddish gold with a 1" thick white head which quickly dissipated. The aroma was sour grainy malt, and some floral notes. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was grainy malt, some toffee hints, and a bitter finish.

Clear darker yellow with small white foam head. Smell chestnut fat away, good taste bitter with caramel and chestnut taste. French beer on sale in one ot the Italian beer pubs. (Rome 201305)

It pours a dark amber & burnt-orange with a half-inch thick white head and some copious lacing. An aroma of caramel malts, hops, light grapefruit, and some spice. The mouthfeel is smooth and rich. Flavors of caramel malts, light hops, citrus, some charcoal, and light spices. Not big on French beer, but it is okay.

Bottle (from bierzwerg.de). Reddish amber colour with a mediumsized fluffy slightly off-white head. Aroma is sweet malts, some mild cooked vegetables, some mild nuttyness as well as a bit grassy. Flavour is sweet malts, some nuttyness as well as some slight grassy and herbal notes.

I don't know much about Corsica. A French possession. A small island in the Med where the natives speak a language that combines French and Italian. The birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte. I never would have figured that there was a brewery there. At any rate, Pietra Amber is an amber ale that is pretty average. Zero foam is found on top of the amber fluid after the bottle pour. The aromas were kind of grainy and unimpressive. At least they weren't metallic. On the buds there was a nice malt quality to it with even carbonation, although it was quite thin compared to other beers of the style. The finish was kind of dry and plain. Flavors of nuts (the chestnuts, perhaps?) and hops in the end were noticeable. I'd probably wouldn't turn down a Pietra Amber on a Mediterranean type of day, but other than that, it's a pretty average brew. I wonder what Napoleon would say.

THis is a rather forgettable beer. After I drank them, I couldn't recall anything about them, and even after looking at my notes, I was still puzzled 'Was this really that bland?' It poured a light copper colour - interesting itself for an amber ale - with no head. The aroma was caramel maltsweet malt with a hint of hops - and the flavour was heavy and sticky with no real wanted flavours appearing.

Poured out a dark gold brew with a bit of unfiltered stuff floating around, small white cap that lives on as a ring, minor lacing. The aroma initially is quite poor resembling nothing more than a crummy lager but given time it gives up a weak, dark nutty aroma that reminds me of Frangelico, a slight burntness and a handful of malts. Overall weak. The flavour, however, is not weak as this does pack a punch. Burnt nut, very dark - maybe closer to the outer covering of the raw nut itself. the bitterness fades in and out tricking me into thinking that it is going to be bitter but it never achieves that, some random fruitiness, maybe a hint of vanilla trying to poke through. No shortage of nutty flavour here. Nicely carbonated with a good level of bitterness for this particular brew. Dried out near the end. I wonder how many I could drink in one sitting before swearing this off forever.

Bottle: pours a shimmering amber-orange color with a 2 finger frothy cap that lasts and laced well. Luscious Muenchener malts in the aroma mingle with some woody-nutty tones and wisp of herbal hops...very pleasant. The flavor is just a more intense, complex version of the aroma... rich bready-sweet Munich malts complimented with nutty tones and balanced with some great German noble hopping...clean drying finish. This is a sturdy flavorful lager that can compete with any Munich amber.

Bottle: Poured an amber color beer with a medium size foamy head with average retention and minimal lacing. Taste of light caramel malt with light sweetness. Taste is somewhat bland with some light caramel malt with some light sweet note also noticeable. Body is about average with some good carbonation. Chestnuts are impossible to detect and again not sure what they would have provided.

"chestnut is used as a prime ingredient rather than as flavouring", quotes the brewery. Its a traditional Corsican ingredient. I dont taste particularly chestnut. Though it gives nice golden sweetness to the beer....Orange color. Mouthfeel is round, mellow carbonation, med body. Some fruit and nuts to the flavor, balanced, strong backbone. Cookie like malts and a nuttiness of course. Crisp, slightly bitter. Good table/dinner beer.
