500 ml capped bottle. Poured in the original Piebalgas Vase a crystal-clear and golden-orange coloured P L with a generous three fingers fine, dense, creamy and almost white foamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Active carbonation. Good lacing. The aroma is a faint herbal hoppy bitterness, a honeyish sweetness, vegetables, green olives and a skunky touch. The flavour is sweety malts, honey and buttery touches, grassy hops. The mouthfeel is creamy, thin and faint bitter. The texture is oily. This medium bodied P L has a sweety and light bitter finish. An attractive eye followed by a disappointing smell and palate.

500 ml bottle, bought in Riga, as "Piebalgas Alus Piebalga". ABV is 5.6%. This is a "gaisais alus" (= pale beer). Unpasteurised. Pale golden colour, large and lasting white head. Sweetish malty and slightly fruity aroma, hints of honey. Sweet malty flavour, too sweet for a pale lager. Notes of honey. Alcohol is noticeable. Some hops in the finish. Unusual lager, but not undrinkable.

Golden colour, huge white creamy head. Strong hoppy and alcoholic nose with a weak lemony note along. Flavour is hoppy, toffeeish and a bit hayish. Hints of honey and alcohol too.
