With more ginger than Gilligan can handle, some might be surprised at the instant blast of flavour and aroma from this true ginger beer, but that doesn't take away from it's sheer quaffability...and it's killer with sushi.

Bottle - fresh sample 3 weeks from racking. Pours a hazed golden ale in th class with a tight-pored white cap that lasts. Ginger is pervasive in the nose, some light grain tones. Peppery mouth feel. Flavour has a nice dose of pale malts in front with good balance fron sharp resinous hopping, ginger plays a complimentary roll for the hops, dry clean bittering fininh. Good thirst buster but not a real ginger beer( cane sugar, aged ginger, lemon and Fermented with a SCOBY) - this is a pale ale flavoured with real ginger, Still a good summer quaff

The first Phillips beer available for sale in Ontario and part of the 2012 LCBO Summer Feature. I tried this beer on June 2, 2012 after purchasing from the King/Spadina LCBO outlet in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a translucent gold colour with a 1" off-white cap. The aroma was grainy malt and ginger. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was very gingery, reminiscent of a ginger snap, and peppery. There was some grainy malt in there as well, and not a lot of bitterness.

Poured a clear, light copper body under a sparse white head. Aroma spiced although no ginger! Flavour also lacked ginger until the first third of the bottle was gone. Then, the ginger 'zing' was there. Really quite nice at the end.

HMmm, just drank the GIB Ginger beer, which was very good, so unfortunately I will be more tough on this brew. When poured the ginger was just as obvious, but this ginger was less fresh and lemony, this was more resiounous and like a ginger herbal tea rather than fresh ginger root. Decidedly medium body. There is some carmel malts in there, and the hop character is not so lively. This beer is ok, its like a malty brit pale ale with some ginger, more along the lines of the popular ginger beers in england. Not digging this one in the hot weather quite as much. More on the bitter side too, makes me salivate.
