Pours a well carbonated red amber with a short one finger tan head. The smell is clean and you can clearly pick-up the raspberry and spice notes. There was a creamy, raspberry taste, the raspberry feel stays throughout, with just a hint of caramel/nutmeg.

Amber color, large head, raspberry aroma. “An amber ale with nutmeg and raspberry flavor”. Malty, spicy and full flavored. Nice smooth taste, slightly malty, slightly hoppy. Full round malty mouthfeel. Just a hint of berry in taste, more berry flavor in aroma. Finish is smooth and malty. Aftertaste is slightly sweet and malty.

A nice enough warm dark amber/chesnut coloured beer..next to no head..some lace. The aroma is mostly of slightly overripe raspberry..though I can detect the nutmeg in the background. Rather average taste though..too reliant on the raspberry..very litlle malt or hops..its all rasp. Again average on the mouth..maybe a touch too carbonated for my tastes. Its drinkable..but with so many great winter brews on the market I wont bother with this one again

Reminded me a lot of Sam Adams winter lager - dark amber in color, with sparse white head. Malty and very slightly sweet with a body that is slightly heavier than your average mass produced beer. I enjoyed this one a good deal, but must say that the micros do a better take on this style.

Clear amber color topped with a medium thick creamy head that leaves plenty of lace. Sweet raspberry aroma with a hint of malt and spice. Sweet raspberry flavor with a malty background and a touch of hoppiness. Tastes like raspberry soda. The finish is nutty, similar to sunflower seeds. Dry and medium bodied.

Much better than expected because 1) I typically dont like winter seasonals, including Sam Smith's 2) Dont like fruit beer 3) Didnt care much for Pete's strawberry fruit beer, but aside from biased, good character, with raspberry flavor but no over kill with the fruit. Slighty spicy. Decent winter seasonal especially being from old Pete.

A damn good beer to sip on while your playing monopoly or risk, has a very nice nutmeg flavor but nothing to overpowering. Alittle bitter but very nice after taste.

Sampled: Winter 2001: Nice dark brown color, fair beige head, some lace. Moderate carbonation and some hop spicyness noticed. Malt front, fair top, hop finish, a decent beer overall.
