Comes out of the tap a clear golden yellow with a thick white head. Aroma is crisp, malty and quite inviting. Flavor is crisp and malty like a typical pilsner, with a fruity undertone and more rounded out than most pilsners I have tried. Texture is tingly, lively and sassy. I am not a big fan of pilsners or lagers, but I did like this one and I recommend it to pilsner lovers.

pours a nice dark gold in the pint glass with a decent head that sticks around for a while. It's dark for a pilsner, with a sweet and bright aroma. Hoppy zings amidst a lightly toasted malt. Mild hop bitterness blends into the brew with a floral quality and a little spicy. It has a medium body with medium-high carbonation that blanches the tongue.

I'm not completely familiar with bronze coloured pilseners, but if they want to call this a pilsener, who am I to argue. An amber coloured grainy beer that is a little too sweet for my pilsener tastes.

A golden colored beer. A medium bodied frothy white head rises above. Not much hang time. Not much carbonation. Settles into an unimpressively light lacing. A grainy aroma rises. Pretty one dimensional. The body is close to being weak, though as I sip there isa surprising hit of creaminess as it flows to the back of my palate. The tasting is of swweet malt and citrus hops. Okay as a session beer.

The flagship beer from Penn Brewery, and it's a remarkable Pilsner. This one is done right and would find a regular home in my fridge if it were more available. Powerful hop nose providing a spicy/peppery aroma from an abundance of noble hops. Hints of bread and caramel also come into play. A sparking rich copper color with a fluffy, lasting head and very thick lacing. Good bitterness atop a fresh filling malty body. Clean, crisp and delightful on the palate. Flavors of sweet baked bread, nuts, hay. Plenty of floral and spicy hop notes with a slight hint of citrus. There is plenty of depth found in this great beer, top notch and surprisingly delicious.

Not bad but wouldn't be my pick for a nice Pils to drink on a warm day. Golden colored, smallish head but some nice lacing is produced. The flavor is sweet fruits with some grassy notes. Mild hops but they are sweet and the whole flavor seems just a little too sweet. Decent mouthfeel but not as crisp as I'd like a Pils to be. It's quite drinkable but no better than average.

This is an odd beer. Translucent amber gold color, sweet crisp apple aroma. But the flavor is an amiable bitter and quite dry. This is a fun juxtaposition. And even though a little sweetness comes up as the beer warms, it's never enough to shift the balance. Good stuff.

This is lacking for a pilsner. Just rating a "beer"- it's average. But it lacks most of the discernible pilsner characteristics. It has the carbonation, but it is not dry and it also has an over-present malty , sweet flavor- not usual in pilsners.

Ok, by far the best of the 3 Penn beers, not that that is saying much. Good, enjoyable summer brew. Sweet pils tasted like a touch of corn even though the label was touting Reinheitsgebot. Who knows.
