The "Saison" ales of Belgium inspire our special vintage ale, Saison du Pelican. "Saison" is the French word for season, because these ales were traditionally brewed in the autumn or winter for consumption during the late summer harvest. With a spicy, herbal aroma and a snappy, refreshing finish, Saison du Pelican combines traditional flavors with excellent drinkability. I grabbed a 750ml of this to go at the brewpub last month (a great oceanfront location). Even with a slow, careful pour this beer still had a huge, puffy white head. Pale gold beer and a little hazy. Has that good unique kind of saison aroma. Acidic on the palate. Spicy, a bit of clove. Champagne like carbonation. I haven't had a bad beer from Pelican yet and I hope to go back again tomorrow!
